Gothic style: Mix your fashion and look with the past

According to a renowned fashion and lifestyle expert, the particular way in which the Goth subculture dresses itself and uses make-up to give the appearance of death is a physical representation of the belief that modern society has sucked the life out of humanity. Appearing in such a way the members of the Goth subculture are making a general declaration to the rest of society and in particular to the dominant culture that they are to blame for creating these monsters that these walking dead.

Gothic fashion is a clothing style worn by members of the Goth subculture- a dark, sometimes morbid and eroticized fashion and style of dress. Distinctive Gothic style includes dyed black hair with black lips and black clothes. Male and female Goth both wears dark eyeliner and dark fingernails. Fashions are often borrowed from the Punks, Victorians and Elizabethans. Few French haute couture designers and particularly Alexander McQueen and John Galliano have been associated with the Goth aesthetic. Basically the origins of contemporary Goth style are found in the Victorian cult of mourning. The Goth fashion can be recognized by its stark black clothing (or hair or makeup). This style initially emerged alongside the early 1980s Gothic rock scene. Gothic style identifies the usual appearance of fishnet stockings with black leather thigh boots and  eye make-up. Goth fashion is sometimes confused with heavy metal fashion.

There are many different types of Goths and many different types of Goth clothing. All outfits can be quite intricate and quite pricey. The materials, colors, influences and styles of the various fashions differ greatly from one another. The Gothic music and fashion are symbiotic. As an example Cyber fashions usually reflect the themes of Industrial music. But here it is a brief description of most of the Gothic fashions along with some links that correspond to that fashion.

The Romantic fashions are full of gracefulness. Some are Ethereal and flows while others are bound and restrained with tight corsets and stranglers. Inspirations for the Romantic styles are taken from the Medieval- Renaissance- Victorian and Edwardian eras. The weaving materials can consist of velvets, chiffon, silks or lace. Ornaments can be pearls, crosses, ankhs, chokers with silver and precious stones. Giving a smoky eyes look and dark lips are typical. For a woman it is important to express her individuality by means of her general appearance; Gothic clothing lets you appear not only attractive but it adds an element of uniqueness which makes you stand apart from the rest. Clothing in black and red made from velvet, leather or lace reflect Gothic romanticism and have an extremely appealing look. Dresses coupled with motifs enhance the sensuality to a great extent.
